CNY174SM is a 6-pin optocoupler often used for isolation of logic signals or data lines. With it, the power and data lines can remain independent and work in a high common mode transient suppression capability of up to 2000 volts. The application filed of CNY174SM is mainly for isolating input and output signs, controlling voltage and current in various circuits, supporting micro-processor interference with wide supply range, and providing an extra layer of protective shielding against high voltage.The working principle of CNY174SM is based on the use of an LED to control the conductivity of a phototransistor. A light-emitting diode (LED) emits photons or light when it is forward biased with an applied voltage. Photons are generated by the electrons in the LED that go from the conduction band to the valence band of the LED. These photons then strike a phototransistor which is a three-terminal device, the first two terminals allowing the photons to enter the device. The current can flow between the base and the collector of the phototransistor when a photon is absorbed in the active region, and the collector current controls the current in the collector circuit. Thus, by using this phototransistor circuit, the CNY174SM can be used as an electrical gate that is excellent for isolation, controlling voltage and current, supporting interference, and providing an extra layer of protective shielding.

CNY174SM optocoupler uses flat type package which can become a highly flexible solution in various electrical designs and also secure a wide range mounting flame. The application field of CNY174SM contains TV receivers, VCRs, solid-state relays, industrial programmable logic controllers (PLCs), other automated systems, computer equipment, ABS braking systems, and even automotive engine ECUs.
