Optoisolators, more commonly known as optocouplers, are electromagnetic components used to separate galvanically two circuits. An electrical feedback is still maintained between the two circuits, but the galvanic isolator ensures that the two circuits remain electrically isolated from one another, protecting from interference and protecting against overloads. The CNY17G-4 optoisolator provides a transistor photovoltaic output.

The CNY17G-4 optoisolator, also known as the CNY17G, is a hybrid optoisolator designed for use in data-communications and low-power control applications where there is an overload risk or mechanical contact problem with the input. The CNY17G-4 optoisolator has an industrial temperature range of -40 to 105 °C and is rated for operation up to 1750 V. It features an insulated 600 V open collector Photovoltaic output, making it suitable for low power circuit protection, low-noise signal transmission, and isolation of data signals.

The CNY17G-4 optoisolator utilizes an LED and photodiode combination device in order to provide isolation between circuits.
