When a positive voltage is applied to the Gate terminal, it will cause the Cathode Gate junction to break, which will cause the device to turn-on. This will cause the voltage drop across the Anode and Cathode terminals to become equal to the Breakover Voltage. Finally, when the current exceeds the Holding Current level, it will cause the device to enter its Saturation state, and the voltage drop across the Anode and Cathode terminals will remain equal to the Breakover Voltage.
