The DS1099U-ST+ is a fractional-N frequency synthesizer technology based on clock generator, PLLs and frequency synthesizers. This device is primarily used for applications such as wireless communication, radar, GPS and measurement & test instruments.
The principle of operation of the DS1099U-ST+ is based on the concept of fractional-N frequency synthesis. This process involves the use of a reference clock, a feedback from a VCO and a digital loop filter to generate a precisely controlled programmable frequency output. In the case of the DS1099U-ST+, the reference clock is a crystal or an external clock with a 26MHz to 50MHz frequency range. The internal feedback loop synchronizes the VCO frequency and the external clock frequency. The digital loop filter is used to control the phase difference between the reference clock, VCO and the frequency output.
The digital phase-locked loop (PLL) architecture of the DS1099U-ST+ is designed to achieve fast settling time, low phase noise and high frequency accuracy. It features an integrated voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and a frequency divider that can be programmed to generate a wide range of frequency output.
