The DS96175CN is an advanced multichannel, robust serially-controlled interface line transceiver. It provides powerful, versatile drive, isolation, and current/voltage sensing functions, allowing interconnection of different circuits in a broad range of applications.

The DS96175CN transceiver integrates two 5 V tolerant line drivers and one 5 V tolerant line receiver. It operates from 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply voltage and is designed for ease of use with either simple or complex logic circuits. By taking advantage of the integrated common-mode feedback features, the line drivers can be configured to minimize EMI and reduce power consumption.

The DS96175CN features a 1 MHz/2 MHz high-speed SPI interface, enabling communication between the microcontroller or logic and the line drivers/receiver in real time. A total of eight channels are available, and each channel provides individual addressability. Each channel can be independently configured as an isolated driver, receiver, diode-OR, isolated control line driver, or isolated power line receiver.

When used as a driver, the DS96175CN can drive up to 80 mA with overload, short-circuit and thermal overload protection. The integrated inter-channel isolation feature ensures that crosstalk is minimized between channels. When used as a receiver, the DS96175CN supports both remote sensing and local sensing, and provides a hysteresis-independent level translation and multicasting function. This enables the integrated circuitry to work with various power supply configurations and wide voltage range.

The DS96175CN is designed to be an intelligent solution for a variety of microcontroller and logic applications, such as networking, home automation and medical devices. It is particularly suitable for applications with multiple and/or complex logic signals, power signals or isolated transmission, or requiring minimizing EMI.

The working principle of the DS96175CN involves translating logic signals from a microcontroller or logic, across an optical isolation barrier, and then driving high-side and/or low-side loads. It can also detect incoming signals from remote devices and translate these signals to be recognizable by a microcontroller or logic. The device uses the SPI interface to communicate with the microcontroller or logic, allowing the user to program and control the operation of the device, enabling precise adjustment and control. The integrated line drivers and receivers can be used to interconnect different circuits, allowing for robust and fault-tolerant signal transmission.

The DS96175CN can be used in applications such as home automation and medical devices, networking equipment, automotive lighting and power control, industrial automation, security systems and other applications that require robust inter-circuit communication.
