When the control signal is a “1” a high current flows between the Triac or SCRs which turns on the device; when the control signal is a “0” a low current flows and the device is turned off.The output of the IC is then connected to a phase control element, usually a diode-connected Triac, which is connected to an AC load. The EL240A20R-24H uses a control circuit consisting of two N-channel MOSFETs which control the firing of the Triac.
