EL7512CY is a member of EL7512 Voltage Regulators family, a full featured, high efficiency, low ripple, and low cost step-down switching regulator that can provide up to 6A continuous output current. EL7512CY DC/DC controllers are the ideal choice for designing low-ripple and high efficiency power conversion systems.They operate with a synchronous rectifier, bringing in a low-ripple output by using two MOSFETs as the switch. A linear error amplifier monitors the output voltage and compares it with a reference generated internally by the EL7512CY. If there is a difference, the error amplifier produces an error signal which is amplified by the internal error amplifier and then used to control the duty cycle of the internal PWM circuit. The fluctuating current is then used to turn ON or OFF the external MOSFET switches. During the OFF time, the rectified input supplies energy to the output filter and the load, while during the ON time, the energy stored in the output inductor is delivered to the load.

EL7512CY is designed to optimize the system efficiency by controlling the switching frequency, output current and peak current for a user defined time period. An internal current buffer helps to minimize ringing noise due to current mismatched in the MOSFET switches and minimize the switching loss.

EL7512CY can also monitor the system loading condition and adjust the switching frequency as needed, improving the system efficiency by reducing both the power dissipation in the switching regulator and the amount of switching noise. With a wide input range of 3-45V, EL7512CY is well suited for a variety of applications, from consumer to industrial and automotive.
