An aluminum electrolytic capacitor (also known as an aluminium electrolytic capacitor, aluminum-electrolytic capacitor or an elna capacitor) is an electrolytic capacitor which uses an electrolyte, containing mobile ions, to achieve a larger capacitance per unit volume than other capacitors.
