EP9301-CQZ Application Field

The EP9301-CQZ is a low power, low cost system on a chip (Soc), based on ARM 920T RISC core with a frequency of up to 200 MHz, together with an improved version of the ARM940T memory management and debug unit. The processor features a large, integrated instruction and data cache, which enable a significant performance gain, and an integrated DDR2 peripheral controller. The module is compatible with the ARM software development tool set, and supports open source software, such as Linux and uClinux. With a wide range of embedded interface options and 10/100 DeBug Ethernet controller on board, the EP9301-CQZ is flexible and versatile enough to be used in a range of embedded applications, including:

EP9301-CQZ Working Principle

The EP9301-CQZ, with its ARM 920T RISC core and improved ARM940, allows for a powerful yet cost-effective embedded solution. The chip is also compliant with the Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture (AMBA) specification, which allows for a broad range of peripheral I/O devices to be connected directly. The scope of development and customization options is further improved by support for the ARM software development tool set.

The processor is designed to support external memory, which can be populated with flash or sometimes external RAM. The CPU core supports single cycle access to internal and external RAM and Flash, which simplifies software development and enables a higher performance.

The EP9301-CQZ has an integrated DDR2 Peripheral Controller that allows for connection of fast IO devices such as compact Flash, hard drives and other higher capacity mass storage devices. The processor also includes support for several external serial ports, Ethernet and audio interfaces, along with a 10/100 DeBug Ethernet controller.

The EP9301-CQZ is one of the most powerful members of the EMAC family from Cirrus Logic.
