EVAL-AD5272SDZ is an evaluation and demonstration board for ADI\'s precision digital to analog converters. It allows characterization of the AD5272 digital-to-analog converter and provides a simple way to test its features in a variety of applications. This evaluation board includes an onboard USB-to-serial interface and integrated power supply and PC GUI software for easy evaluation and debugging. EVAL-AD5272SDZ is a good choice for applications related to signal conditioning, test and measurement, automotive, medical and industrial applications.
The EVAL-AD5272SDZ is an 8-Channel, 10-bit digital-to-analog converter with 64-level programmable gain amplifier. The digital code contains a 10-bit 2’s complement signed number with a 0 to 5V conversion range. The board supports the following features: single-ended bipolar signal input or rail-to-rail bipolar signal output with programmable output amplifier gain selection from -8 to +24.6dB in 1dB steps; programmable gain amplifier gain issue delay; programmable offset voltage, and programmable input voltage gain selection from 0-2.22 in 0.01 steps.
The EVAL-AD5272SDZ evaluation board uses a 4-wire interface over a USB port and PC GUI software provided with the EVAL-AD5272SDZ evaluation kit. The on-board IC is an application specific integrated circuit ASSP designed to provide gain and offset error free digitally controlled performance. The onboard ICs have on-chip control registers which allow configuration of various features. The on-board ICs also provide a serial interface for programmatically controlling the board and an integrated power supply with on-board SMPS for powering the board.
The working principle of the EVAL-AD5272SDZ evaluation board is simple. When the board is connected to the PC and the software is running, the GUI software provides user interface to the user. The user can then use the software’s graphical interface to configure the on-board D/A converter with the desired settings. Then, depending on the user’s choice, the board can be programmed either through its IC control registers, or from the PC interface with the GUI software.
