EVAL-AD5317RDBZ is a evaluation board of digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It is designed to help designers understand and evaluate the functionality of the AD5317R 10-bit, 8-/16-bit, unipolar/bipolar output DACs. The boards are suitable for high precision systems in industrial, medical, automotive and other applications such as industrial process control, medical instrumentation and motor control to precision audio.
The evaluation board is based on an AD5317R single-channel DAC chip. This dual-range device is capable of providing 10-bit, 8-/16-bit, unipolar/bipolar high accuracy digital-to-analogue conversion. The evaluation board consists of an 8-lead SO package and a board mounted PGC switch. It features an input voltage range of 3.3V to 5.25V and an output current range of 10mA to 25mA. It also supports a maximum sampling rate of 16kHz.
The EVAL-AD5317RDBZ evaluation board features an on-board analog amplifier. This low power, single-channel amplifier operates from 3.3V to 5V and provides a gain range of between 2.0V/V and 120.0V/V. The on-board amplifier is used to reproduce the analog signal generated by the DAC faithfully.
The EVAL-AD5317RDBZ board offers maximum performance for 10-bit, 8-/16-bit, unipolar/bipolar digital-to-analog conversion. Its onboard PGC switch allows for easy programming of the DAC with 8-/12-bit data words for immediate operations. It features an exceptionally low power consumption – 3.3V for the DAC and PGC switch with 2.7V to 6.5V supply voltage range for the analog amplifier – for improved efficiency. It also offers high accuracy and low distortion for smooth signal reproduction.
The operation of the EVAL-AD5317RDBZ is very simple. It can be easily programmed as either an 8-bit or 16-bit device. To use the 8-bit DAC, all that is required is the 8-bit data and the correct address word programming. For 16-bit programming, the data MSB (most-significant-bit) is used to select the DAC range. Additionally, the voltage reference can be applied to input VREF, with the default reference voltage being 1.2V.
