The EVAL-AD7175-2SDZ is a versatile evaluation system for evaluating high precision, low power, precision sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Analog Devices. This board is ideal for expansion in industrial, communications, medical, consumer and automotive applications. The ADC offers features like a wide input dynamic range, low power operation, excellent noise performance and high sampling capabilities. It also provides an on-board 16-bit voltage reference that helps to improve accuracy and precision of measurements.
The kit comprises an evaluation board and the EVAL-SDP-CB1Z SDP-PM1 Platform Controller Board. The evaluation board features the 24-bit, high-precision dual channel ADC, with fast conversion rate (up to 244 kSPS) and selectable power modes. Integrating the AD7175 into the system is easy because the evaluation board has all the necessary system components that are required to allow quick and simple implementation. It includes an on-board ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller, Analog Devices ADuC7020, and a user interface. The SDP-PM1 Platform Controller Board provides the connection interface that allows both the Evaluation Board and the host computer to be connected.
The working principle of the EVAL-AD7175-2SDZ system includes three main steps: input signal conditioning, analog-to-digital conversion with a sigma-delta architecture and digital signal processing. The ADC requires an input from analog source and the data is amplified by low-noise amplifiers (LNAs). The data then undergoes Sigma-Delta analog-to-digital conversion which reduces noise sampled from the input signal by a factor of two. The data is then further processed by digital signal processing in the Cortex-M3 microcontroller. The data can be then sent out through various output interfaces such as RS-232, USB, Ethernet etc.
The EVAL-AD7175-2SDZ evaluation board is an excellent evaluation platform for any system that requires low power, wide dynamic range and high resolution analog-to-digital conversion.
