Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs) provide high-speed and/or low-power digital conversions for wide variety of applications. These applications include the acquisition of data from analog-to-digital converters, switches, transducers, and other analog devices, and the transfer of digital signals to digital display devices and other digital systems. The EVAL-AD7177-2SDZ (AD7177-2SDZ) is an all-in-one evaluation board designed to evaluate the features of the AD7177-2 low-power, high-speed SAR Analog-to-Digital Converter with integrated low-noise programmable filters.

The EVAL-AD7177-2SDZ evaluation board includes features for rapid prototyping and testing of the AD7177-2, including I2C and USB-to-I2C interfaces, a signal source board and standard evaluation board connectors, providing a platform to quickly evaluate performance of the AD7177-2 and develop custom applications. The board also includes a surface mount 4-layer PCB in an 8-pin TSSOP package.

The EVAL-AD7177-2SDZ features a wide common-mode input voltage range for single-ended input signals as low as -2V to +2V, with reference inputs from 0V to 2V, allowing signals to be monitored over a wide range of both common-mode and differential voltages. Low offset and gain errors, high resolution, and low noise characterize the AD7177-2 platform. The maximum sampling rate for this ADC is 16 MSPS, making it ideal for applications such as ultrasound imaging, medical imaging, high-speed data acquisition, industrial sensing, and robotics.

The AD7177-2 is a 16-bit synchronous SAR ADC with a ±3V input range. It is small in size and low in power consumption, making it ideal for low-power and other space-constrained applications. The AD7177-2 also includes onboard digital filters that reduce noise when sampling fast signals or high frequency input signals. The programmable digital filters allow the user to select the filter bandwidth for their specific application needs.

The board includes two operating modes. In the low-speed mode, the sampling rate can be tuned in the range of 125 kSPS (kilo-samples per second) and 1.2 MSPS. In the high-speed mode, the ADC can sample up to 16 MSPS. The maximum sampling rate is determined by the certification requirements for the respective application. The board also includes a reference clock for all sampling operations.

The EVAL-AD7177-2SDZ evaluation board also includes a full-duplex USB-to-I2C port for easy debugging and communication with external devices. The board has two pins for I2C communication, allowing the user to configure the converter and monitor its operation. The board also provides power input and reset pin options.

The EVAL-AD7177-2SDZ evaluation board is the perfect platform for evaluating and prototyping applications with the AD7177-2 ADC.
