EVAL-AD7608EDZ Application Field and Working Principle
Evaluation Boards - Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs) are commonly used for numerous analog-to-digital conversion tasks in different application fields. One example is the EVAL-AD7608EDZ device, which is a multi-channel, high-speed, and precision analog-to-digital converter.This EVAL-AD7608EDZ Evaluation Kit is well-suited for medical imaging, such as echocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scanning. The device is also applicable in the area of automated optical inspection (AOI) and motion control, and for other applications that involve usage of high-speed analog-to-digital converters.The board allows users to directly connect the converter with two differential LVDS inputs to digital video sources, or buffered single-ended analog sources. This provides users with flexible data acquisition options that are suitable for most high-speed ADC applications. The cables provided by the evaluation board are designed with low-noise shielding for improved electromagnetic interference (EMI) and differential line operation.The EVAL-AD7608EDZ Evaluation Kit also includes a 16-bit resolution sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and a 24-bit digital output controller. Together, these components form a powerful and cost-effective system for automatically converting analog signals into digital data with high-resolution.The EVAL-AD7608EDZ includes a built-in 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC), as well as two 24-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The devices have selectable gain and offset calibration functions that allow them to be quickly configured to match the incoming signal range.The EVAL-AD7608EDZ utilizes a clever algorithm which performs an ADC conversion process using the Sequence of Operation (SO). This algorithm has been designed to minimize power consumption, increase sampling accuracy, and simplify the design of the user’s own control software. The Sequence of Operation (SO) consists of a sequence of control signals which instruct the device on the steps required to perform a conversion process. When SO is active, the device activates the reference input, measures the voltage on the input channel, and then converts the measured voltage into the desired digital output. After the conversion process has completed, the device de-activates all of its internal circuitry, waits for the next conversion signal, and then repeats the process.The EVAL-AD7608EDZ Evaluation Kit includes software that allows users to quickly develop their own custom control schemes and user interface with minimal effort.
