The EVAL-ADN2850SDZ board combines the ADN2850 device, a reference crystal, on-board voltage regulation, a reset circuit, and other support circuitry. This combination makes the EVAL-ADN2850SDZ a suitable platform for evaluating the performance characteristics of the ADN2850, as well as for rapidly prototyping radio-frequency applications, such as wireless data links operating in the Industrial Scientific Medical (ISM) band.The evaluation board (EVAL-ADN2850SDZ) operates using two distinct parts: the Transmitter (Tx) side, and the Receiver (Rx) side. The Tx side contains a PLL loop that operates using two synthesized-OSC signals generated from the ADN2850. The PLL loop is then used to control the output multiplexer. The Rx side of the board takes input from the Tx through the NC connector. A series of low-loss transmission lines on the PCB then split the signal into two paths for direct down-conversion.The evaluation board also contains two clock circuits – one on the Tx side and one on the Rx side. The clock circuitry on the Tx side consists of a crystal, two bypass capacitors, and an oscillator which provides a reference signal to the PLL loop. The clock circuitry on the Rx side consists of an external Xtal, two by-pass capacitors, and an oscillator which provides a reference signal to the ADN2850.In addition, the EVAL-ADN2850SDZ includes a number of support circuitry to ensures overall device stability and performance, such as on-board voltage regulation, reset circuitry, ESD protection diodes, power supply decoupling, and RF shielding.In conclusion, the EVAL-ADN2850SDZ is an ideal evaluation board for the ADN2850 passive mixer. It is designed to enable users to quickly evaluate the performance of the device, and rapidly prototype applications operating in the ISM frequency range.
