EVAL-ADXL346Z-S application field and working principle

The EVAL-ADXL346Z-S is an evaluation board for the ADXL346Z acceleration sensor. The device measures linear acceleration in three axes and is optimized for low power applications. This mode allows for power consumption as low as 38 μA at 1.2 V and 320 μA at 3.3 V. In high-resolution mode, the full scale range is extended to ±16g, although noise level and the power consumption increase.

The EVAL-ADXL346Z-S accelerometer includes both motion detection and tap detection capabilities. The motion detection feature enables the device to detect both static and dynamic acceleration, allowing for gesture recognition as in gaming devices or human-machine interfaces. The tap and double tap technique enables automatic tap detection, which can be used for alerting the user in portable medical devices, monitor systems, and other applications.
