The EVAL5987A Evaluation Board can be used for designing and verifying SMPS circuits which can operate in different output voltages and current levels over wide input voltage range of up to 400 V. A variety of DC/DC topologies can be achieved depending upon user-selected components.

Working Principles
The EVAL5987A Evaluation Board is based on SRC which allows building high performance and highly integrated power systems with low-shrink block and high embedment of components. SRC ensures smooth, efficient and digital-control control of the rectifier stage of DC/DC & AC/DC (off-line) SMPS. It ensures high efficiency, low switching losses, low system cost and low electromagnetic interference (EMI).
The SRC core consist of four circulating switches which redirects current flow to the input side of a converter. The level of ripple on the output is significantly reduced due to the presence of the SRC core. During operation, the SRC switches between two levels of input voltage, allowing for improved efficiency as compared to more traditional buck-boost methods.
The EVAL5987A Evaluation Boardis populated with a variety of user-selectable components such as opto-couplers, power transistors, ICs, resistors, capacitors, and a low-shrink block. It also contains various indicators to allow a user to optimize switching points for different input voltage ranges as well as determining the active SRC delay time.
The EVAL5987A Evaluation Board also supports advanced features such as synchronizing bar control, dynamic voltage scaling, automatic reset, adjustable dead-time, fault detection and reporting, and peak current control.
