EVALPFC2-ICE2PCS01 is an Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits that is used for a wide range of applications. It is designed to work with a PFC (Power Factor Correction) controller IC and an ICE2PCS01 power supply IC, in order to control energy efficiency, reduce electrical energy consumption and bill. It also supports several boards with various input voltages which can give system designers the power they need to design a safe and secure system.
The EVALPFC2-ICE2PCS01 give users the capability to control the AC-DC conversion efficiency and power factor from the AC main to the auxiliary side of the system. To control AC downstream, an accurate controllable voltage waveform is generated. As a result, a voltage response over the EVALPFC2-ICE2PCS01 can be analysed accurately, which is a useful feature for parameter adjustment of the PFC controller IC.
The work principle of EVALPFC2-ICE2PCS01 is basically based on the continuous and open loop power factor correction (PFC) technique. This technique enables the user to control the AC voltage waveform, such that it matches the desired one. This also enables the user to reduce the dead time and increase the reliability of the system operation. The user also has an option to adjust the voltage waveform, in order to reduce THDs (Total Harmonic Distortion) and improve the power factor when needed.
EVALPFC2-ICE2PCS01 can be used for applications such as in-wall lighting control, DC/DC buck-boost type power supplies, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), DC motor control, and many other energy-saving products. It is being used in residential, commercial, industrial, and automotive systems, where the accurate power factor correction is needed to reduce the input current rising and power dissipation.
This board is specifically designed for PFC applications and comes in two flavors. The first one is a family of ICE2PCS01-capable Power Factor Correction (PFC) controllers which provide up to 265Vdc input and up to 15A operating current. This version allows for compatibility with a wide variety of input voltage and current ranges and is ideally suited for applications where power factor correction needs to be optimized. The second version of EVALPFC2-ICE2PCS01 enables up to 265V and 30A, making it more suitable for higher power applications that require a higher level of reliability.
