Evaluation Boards - DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS refer to sets of circuit boards designed to evaluate various types of power supplies, including DC/DC (direct current to direct current ) and AC/DC (alternating current to direct current) SMPS (switched-mode power supplies). EVALSF3-ICE3DS01 is a versatile evaluation board from Infineon’s Automotive EiceDRIVER™ 3 phase range. It is designed for the evaluation of a 3 phase full bridge or 6 x half bridge configuration DC-DC converter.
The EVALSF3-ICE3DS01 evaluation board provides an easy way to evaluate and design different applications from the Automotive EiceDRIVER™ 3 phase’s range of products. It is capable of operating up to 300V DC input and has a 250V BCDC output with advanced diagnostics and protections. This evaluation board is ideal for evaluating buck, buck-boost, dual-channel boost, boost-free-flyback, and three phase applications.
In order to operate, the EVALSF3-ICE3DS01 board requires a microcontroller to drive the EiceDRIVER™ 835x drivers, providing maximum current and voltage utilization while also protecting the system from over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, and open load faults. The evaluation board contains essential power components which can be used for different topologies with three phase (e.g. three phase buck converter, three phase flyback, etc.) and can be connected in a variety of configurations.
The circuit board is divided into various sections for monitoring, control, voltage regulation, and power conversion. The evaluation board contains two measurement cards which use the latest Infineon family of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to measure the voltage on each driver output and on the main power source. It contains a laboratory grade dc/dc converter so that it can be used as a stand-alone power supply. Other features include a jumper for selecting the signal port, as well as additional connectors for setting up communication with the microcontroller.
The working principle of the EVALSF3-ICE3DS01 board is simple. It utilizes a microcontroller to drive the EiceDRIVER™ 835x drivers, as well as measure the voltage on each driver output and on the main power source, enabling maximum current and voltage utilization while simultaneously protecting the system from over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, and open load faults. The evaluation board also contains additional power components, such as a transformer and filter capacitors, which can be used to design different topologies with three phase (e.g. three phase buck converter, three phase flyback, etc.) and connected in a variety of configurations.
