:The EVALVIPER17L-7W is an off-line DC/DC and AC/DC switching power supply evaluation board. It enables the user to evaluate various control topologies, including Bucha non-inverting, FlyBack, Forward, Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) or Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM). This board also provides an excellent platform for evaluating power topologies, converter\'s performance, stability, and efficiency.
Application Field
The application field of the EVALVIPER17L-7W is broad due to its various attractive features. Off-line supply applications allow the use of solutions with low output voltages, such as tablet chargers and consumer electronics. It can also be used for higher power ratings, such as industrial, medical, and telecommunications equipment that requires input voltages over 35 VDC or AC inputs. In addition, this evaluation board is suitable for LED driver designs with isolated output voltage over 13 VDC.
Working Principle
In order to understand the working of the EVALVIPER17L-7W, we must first look at the architecture of the system. It consists of two stages; the first is the PFC stage, which is responsible for ensuring high power factor by using a peak current control technique. The second stage is the PWM controller, which generates a high frequency switching modulation for the main MOSFETs at the AC/DC stage according to the voltage and current requirements. The architecture of the system also includes a set of protection functions such as overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuit, open loop, and undervoltage. It also includes an active clamping circuit which reduces the voltage ringing and maintains the output voltage steady. Additionally, the system features a dynamic voltage position controller (DVPC) which ensures an optimal balance between the power loss and the current. This DVPC regulation is achieved by applying the POLA technique, which boosts up the output and improves the system’s efficiency.
