FAN4810M application field and working principle

Power factor correction (PFC) is the most widely used technologies to enhance the efficiency and reduce the pollution of the power supply. FAN4810M, as a single-stage continued conduction mode PFC controller, can fully meet this requirement.

FAN4810M has a small SOP-8 package, small on-chip MOSFET and its gate driver and no need external components.This feature makes it suitable for the applications with a very small space. The working principle of FAN4810M is based on the continuous conduction mode (CCM). The CCM is a kind of operation mode that one of the inductors current is always closed, keeps the operation under a certain inductors current when the power factor reaches 1.The control of FAN4810M is based on the voltage feedback and current feedback. The voltage feedback function helps to check the output voltages, and the controller will adjust the output voltage in order to maintain the accurate output voltage. In the meanwhile, FAN4810M can work with an external resistor to form a current feedback loop. The current feedback loop can check the output current, and the.controller will adjust the output current in order to meet the prevention of load’s harmonic distortion.
