FAN7390M1X Application Field and Working PrincipleThe FAN7390M1X is a high-performance PMIC Gate Driver that combines the functions of a High-Side & Low-Side Gate Driver, making it suitable for a range of applications including motor control, industrial automation and automotive.In motor control applications, the FAN7390M1X can be used in both traction and non-traction motor control, providing high-level switching of the motor’s power devices while protecting the microcontroller from hazardous fault conditions. In industrial automation applications, the FAN7390M1X can be used to precisely control the switching of high-power electrical devices such as relays, contactors and switches. In automotive applications, the FAN7390M1X can be used to control the operation of accessories such as power windows, mirrors and seats as well as for traction motor control.The FAN7390M1X features an innovative power stage design that allows for high-side and low-side MOSFET control with a single driver IC. This design facilitates the use of a common ground for the power stage and the microcontroller, thus eliminating the need for a level shifting circuit between the two. The FAN7390M1X also features an integrated drive booster circuit, which is capable of supplying high level currents in order to drive MOSFETs of up to 1.7Ω on-resistance.The FAN7390M1X also includes a variety of protection features, such as under-voltage lockout, over-current sense, thermal shutdown and over temperature warning. This provides a robust and reliable solution for protecting the power stage devices.The FAN7390M1X can be operated in 3-pin, 5-pin and 6-pin configurations, which allow for amenable compact packaging solutions which are applicable to a wide range of applications. When the logic input pin is driven high, a signal is sent to the power stage drive booster circuit and a voltage is applied across the output stage transistors.
