The FAN7930CM is a power factor correction (PFC) type of power management integrated circuit (PMIC) that helps eliminate power supply harmonics and ensures greater power efficiency from the power supply. The FAN7930CM is an active power factor correction integrated circuit in theBUCK Boost (buck- and boost-mode) topology family. This device helps reduce the harmonic content of the power input voltage, thus helping reduce energy and improving the total power utilization efficiency of the entire system.

The FAN7930CM has a very high power efficient of up to >97%, integrated over-voltage protection, wide input voltage range of 2.5V-18V, temperature range of -40 to +105°C, and a maximum output current of 4.5A. It also features valley switching, dynamic phase modulation, built in soft start and short-circuit protection. Additionally the device supports two LED indicators, one indicating that the buck mode is inregulation, and one indicating buck-boost mode.

At the heart of the FAN7930CM is the external MOSFEF, integrated together with a single-phase fixed–frequency control. The MOSFET, operating in buck-boost (or "valley switch") mode, modulates the power in a single phase to obtain the desired power factor. The FAN7930CM operates in two modes: buck and buck-boost.
