FR606

FR606 application field and working principle

FR606 is a single rectifier diode with many application fields and various working principles. It is capable of generating large current, very low forward voltage drop and provide excellent surge capability.

Application fields

• High-powered rectification: FR606 can be used in applications that require large amount of current and very low forward voltage drop.
• AC/DC converters: FR606 can be used to convert AC voltage to DC voltage with high efficiency.
• Laptop computer: FR606 can be used in laptop computers to store the converted power.
• Rectifiers: FR606 can be used to convert AC voltage to DC voltage with high efficiency and very low forward voltage drop.
• Switching mode power supplies: FR606 can be used in switching mode power supplies (SMPSs) such as buck converters and LED drivers.

Working principle

FR606 consists of a P-type semiconductor and an N-type semiconductor. When a forward bias voltage is applied to the P-type semiconductor, negative charges will be drawn to the negative polarity terminal whilst positive charges will be attracted to the positive terminal. This creates an electric field between both terminals. As the electric eld increases, current will begin to flow through the diode and electrons will be allowed to move freely. This is known as the forward conduction of the diode.

When a reverse bias voltage is applied to the FR606, the charges on both terminals will be repelled, creating a high electric field. This prevents current from flowing through the diode and electrons will be blocked, preventing reverse conduction.

FR606 also has a low forward voltage drop and can withstand large surges. This makes it an excellent choice for applications that require high currents and very low forward voltage drops, such as high-power rectification, AC/DC converters and switching mode power supplies (SMPSs).
