FT838RNA-RT is a multi-functional, integrated offline switcher IC (Integrated Circuit). It consists of two AC to DC power converters, a low-side N-channel MOSFET, two linear regulators, two MOSFET drivers, two error amplifiers and a wide-range boost controller. This device can be used to provide either a constant voltage or current output, depending on the application.

FT838RNA-RT can handle a wide input voltage range, from 3.3V up to 18V. It also features a low quiescent current of 10μA and very low standby power consumption of only 25μW. Furthermore, this device has a maximum output current of 500mA, and a low-side MOSFET gate resistor of just 0.5Ω. In addition, the output voltage and current accuracy of this device is also Capao to match, and attain, a higher system performance and sustainable power supply stability.

The working principle of the FT838RNA-RT is that when the input voltage is below a predefined level, the MOSFET driver switches off the low-side MOSFET, block the power path, and disconnect the output from the input. However, when the input voltage rises above the predefined level, the MOSFET driver will trigger, turning on the low-side MOSFET and enabling a power path from the input to the output.
