Power management integrated circuit (PMIC) is a type of integrated circuit that combines multiple power management functions such as voltage regulation, power sequencing, and power sequencing into a single integrated circuit (IC). The FT839ND1-RT is a monolithic integrated circuit (MOSFET) based switching regulator in the PMIC that offers a simple, cost-effective and solid-state solution for basic AC-DC and DC-DC conversion applications. The FT839ND1-RT will produce up to 1A of output current.For the A-mode switching, the FT839ND1-RT will regulate the output voltage by turning the MOSFET on and off at the switching frequency. During the B-mode switching, the IC will regulate the output voltage by sensing the current running through the MOSFET, or “bump”. When the MOSFET is operating in the bump mode, the IC will detect the voltage level and adjust the MOSFET duty cycle and current limit accordingly.The FT839ND1-RT is a great choice for a variety of off-line, low power applications due to its integrated MOSFET driver, wide input voltage range, low start-up power consumption, high efficiency, and low external component count.
