Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diodes, or “Zener” diodes, are semiconductor devices designed to protect circuits from voltage transients, or surges. The GSOT15C-G3-18 is a high-performance, low-capacitance, low-capacitance TVS diode that is suitable for both single- and multi-line applications in electronic equipment where overvoltage and ESD protection is essential. It is specifically designed to provide transient protection for both voltage and current transients.

The GSOT15C-G3-18 is a diode capable of operating up to 1500 Volts and capable of handling peak pulses of up to 1.5kW. It operates in the reverse breakdown region where the voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage or the avalanche voltage. Once the breakdown voltage is reached, the diode quickly conducts high current and limits the voltage to the breakdown voltage. This is why TVS diodes are commonly referred to as “crowbar” or “Zener” diodes.

The GSOT15C-G3-18 has a reverse leakage current of 6uA and a capacitance of approximately 18pf. It is constructed using an epoxy molding compound for environmental protection. The maximum peak power dissipated is 1.5KW and it is capable of dissipating power up to 80mW for 8 hours. The working temperature range for the GSOT15C-G3-18 is -40°C to +125°C.
