The GTCR36-900M-R10-FT Gas Discharge Tube Arrester is designed for protecting AC and DC power supplies, and electrical/electronics circuits, systems, and components from transient overvoltages. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, including a power supply, telecommunications systems, and industrial and medical equipment. The GTCR36-900M-R10-FT is a three-line arrester designed for use with 24V, 48V, 72V, and 120V AC and/or DC power supplies.
The GTCR36-900M-R10-FT provides protection against transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes, switching operations, and power line induction. It achieves this protection by means of a gas discharge tube (GDT). The GDT is a type of high-voltage power surge protector that utilizes gas-filled plasma tubes to suppress transients and overvoltages. The GDT works by controlling the flow of electricity, or current, to the protected system by discharging the excess energy through the GDT into the ground. This process of dispersing the energy prevents it from overloading the circuit and damaging components.
The GTCR36-900M-R10-FT uses a two-stage protection system. In the first stage, the GDT absorbs and redirects the transient energy, diverting it away from the constituent parts and components. In the second stage, the VDR (Voltage Dependent Resistor) clamps the voltage on the protected system to a safe level.
The GTCR36-900M-R10-FT is rated to withstand up to 900V of transient surge current, with a maximum surge current of 10A with an 8/20us waveform. The device is RoHS-compliant and is encased in an insulating aluminum shell for durability and protection from external environmental factors.
