Optoisolators, also known as optocouplers,optical couplers or photocouplers, are electronic components that are used to allow electrical isolation between two circuits. They are commonly used in devices that require circuit protection, such as power supplies, motor controllers, data converters and medical equipment. The H11A2S1(TA)-V is an optoisolator of the Transistor, Photovoltaic Output type. It is a hybride optoisolator IC that combines an infrared emitting diode and a silicon NPN photocoupler.

Working Principle

The H11A2S1(TA)-V optoisolator works by using an infrared emitting diode to convert electrical signals into light signals. These light signals are then detected by a phototransistor, which then triggers an electrical signal again. This process is known as optical isolation, as it isolates the two circuits from each other electrically, while still allowing communication between them.

The optoisolator works by illuminating the infrared LED with a current pulse. When this happens, the transistor will switch on and the voltage drop across it will be amplified. This allows for a secure connection between the two circuits, as the electrical signal is converted into light and then converted back into an electrical signal.

The optoisolator can also work in reverse. If the current pulse is removed, the phototransistor will switch off and the voltage drop across it will be reduced. This allows for an open connection between the two circuits, preventing any current from flowing between them.
