Optoisolators are devices commonly used in electronics to transfer electronic signals between two isolated circuits. An optoisolator consists of an input side such as a transistor, photovoltaic cell and an output side such as photovoltaic output. The H11B3S(TA) optoisolator is a three terminal optoisolator designed for signal transfer and power supply isolation in particular for mobile device. It is a logic-level optoisolator that passes digital logic signals between the input and output circuit.

The H11B3S(TA) optoisolator operates on the principle of converting an electrical signal to an optical signal and then transmitting it through a space between two isolated circuits. On the input side, the optoisolator has two transistors and a photovoltaic cell connected in series. When an electrical signal is applied to the input side with a certain voltage, the current through the transistor will vary with the voltage, resulting in the photocell getting adequate current to produce light. The light is then guided to the output side of the optoisolator device where a photodiode is connected. The photodiode converts the light to a current that produces an output voltage in the output circuit.

The H11B3S(TA) optoisolator is a three-terminal optoisolator suitable for both light-up and light-out applications. In light-up applications, the input side is the source of the light while on light-out applications, the output side is the source of the light. This optoisolator offers high input to output isolation,l with a minimum isolation voltage of 1.5kV. It has a low collector-emitter saturation voltage of 0.6V and a fast switching speed (80KHz). Finally, it can be conveniently mounted using a surface mount package.

The H11B3S(TA) optoisolator possesses unique features that make it ideal for signal transfer and power supply isolation in mobile devices. Its three-terminal design allows it to be used in both types of applications, light up and light out.
