The ICS2304NZGI-1 is an advanced high-performance clock buffer and driver IC that can provide multiple clock outputs and support very low skew, low jitter clock distribution applications. Its purpose is to efficiently drive multiple clock signals in clock networks, ensuring very low-skew and low-jitter, without impacting overall timing performance. This IC, developed by IC Level Technologies, is available in a 32-pin TQFN, a flexible 24-pin SOIC, and a 14-pin SOIC package for maximum flexibility. It consumes very low power and features a wide operating temperature range of 50°C to 125°C.
In applications such as engine control, audio, video, and communications, data and timing must be accurately transmitted throughout the system. To maintain signal integrity and minimize the possibility of data loss or erroneous transmission, the timing signal must be buffered and distributed with very low skew and low jitter properties. The ICS2304NZGI-1 can meet these requirements by being able to drive up to 12 buffer outputs. It allows for up to three times more outputs than most buffer/driver ICs of its kind, as well as improved signal integrity.
The ICS2304NZGI-1 is designed to reduce the amount of clock generated noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI), particularly in high clock frequency applications. It achieves this by offering a wide range of built-in low-skew and low-jitter input-to-output delay times and multiple switching thresholds. The wide switching range is designed for use in either a single-ended input or a differential input clock design, offering flexibility for various applications. Additionally, the device supports a superior clock signal stability and fast switching time, allowing for improved signal integrity.
The ICS2304NZGI-1 also supports an active clock decay feature, which allows the output clock signal to be independently adjusted and decayed to its original state at a user-defined level. By setting the decay level to 5 V, the device can meet SMPTE requirements, while setting it to 3.3 V would provide improved signal integrity and lower EMI emission levels. The active decay feature can also be used to reduce power consumption, reduce switching noise, reduce system clock jitter, and improve signal amplitude accuracy.
In short, the ICS2304NZGI-1 offers improved signal integrity and better performance for clock distribution applications in a very efficient package.
