The device is ideal for light, low-power applications and is able to match motor and driver characteristics regardless of motor type – brushed, brushless, induction, etc. It can also be applied to different power sources, such as AC and DC maintain a variable frequency and torque.
The IRMCK311TY is an integrated power module combining two high-sensitivity Hall effects, two low on-resistance Metal Oxide Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) driver outputs and an over current protection circuit. The device comes with a dedicated driver for the hall element or an external drive for the driving of the 2 low on-resistance MOSFET outputs. This combination makes the device capable of handling different types of motors with speed flexibility and surge protection at the same time.
The IRMCK311TY can be applied to several contexts, including AC, DC and induction motors. The device enables the control of single-phase or three-phasemotors and provides engine speed control for any type of load, such as washing machine, ventilator, air conditioner, water pump, microwave ovens, and other home appliances. It is also capable of driving three-phase bipolar stepping motors over multiple torques with phase angles.
To work properly, the IRMCK311TY requires an external power supply, a thyristor AC line voltage, an AC neutral line, and a current sensor. The external power supply needs to supply a stable voltage within the given power range. The thyristor line voltagemust be an AC line voltage ranging from 90 to 310Vrms. The AC neutral line provides ground connection for the full internal circuitry. The current senor monitors current level and can trigger the overcurrent protection circuit for any component protection.
The IRMCK311TY also has a low voltage detection block with a built-in comparator responsible for monitoring a selectable voltage threshold set by an external resistor. If the voltage drops below the set voltage threshold, the comparator produces a low voltage alarm. This alarm signals an overcurrent protection circuit, thus serving as an integrated protection system.
Besides the low voltage detection, the IRMCK311TY has a built-in temperature protection circuit. This is due to the temperature sensitive nature of the MOSFET which requires temperature protection in order to maintain good performance. The temperature is monitored with a temperature activated shutoff circuit which automatically stops the device operationonce the temperature gets above a predetermined threshold, thus protecting the device from critical temperature damages.
