If the voltage drops below the set voltage threshold, the comparator produces a low voltage alarm. This alarm signals an overcurrent protection circuit, thus serving as an integrated protection system.

Besides the low voltage detection, the IRMCK311TY has a built-in temperature protection circuit. This is due to the temperature sensitive nature of the MOSFET which requires temperature protection in order to maintain good performance. The temperature is monitored with a temperature activated shutoff circuit which automatically stops the device operationonce the temperature gets above a predetermined threshold, thus protecting the device from critical temperature damages.
