The ISL6614IB-T is a high-speed switching gate-driving device designed for driving N-Channel MOSFETs and IGBTs in various power applications. It has a high drive current of 2.2 A, a fast turn-on and turn-off times of 2.2 ns and 1.2 ns respectively. The device is also short-circuit protected and offers an adjustable leading-edge blanking feature.

Application Field

Working Principle

It employs an asynchronous sample and hold logic that senses the voltage across the gate-source of the MOSFET or IGBT under control and then adjusts the gate-source drive voltage accordingly. This ability to sample and adjust the gate-source voltage helps to reduce the turn-on and turn-off times, allowing for faster switching. The input voltage to the driver is also adjustable and is can be configured to between 1.8 to 3.3V. The output driver also features a slew-rate control that can be programmed to ensure the voltage stays within a specified range during transitions.

The device features two bootstrap capacitors connected from the BOOT and VS pins to the drain of the top and bottom MOSFETs. This ensures the higher voltage, required for driving the large gate capacitances of power MOSFETs and IGBTs, is available at the gate driver outputs. The device also features boot un-floating protection that limits the boot voltage to a safe level. The device operates in a high-side/low-side mode and is soldered to a PCB. It supports a wide operating temperature range of -40° to 125°C and is available in a tiny 5.5 x 5.2 mm 8-pin GP-QFN package.
