Working Principle

IX2A11S1 PMIC gate driver consists of an integrated high-side and low-side driver with a separatly driven chip enable input. The two drivers are connected to the positive and the negative voltage supply (VCC and GND), respectively. The output of the high-side driver is connected to the gate of a power MOSFET or IGBT, while the output of the low-side driver is connected to a logic-controlled switch.The operation of IX2A11S1 is based on a push-pull concept. Upon activation of the chip enable input, the high-side driver will be activated and a voltage higher than the VCC voltage level is generated at the high-side output. This voltage is then fed to the gate of the power MOSFET or IGBT and it switches the power device ON. Conversely, the low-side driver is then activated and causes the switch to open, thus shutting off the power device.When the chip enable input is deactivated, the high-side driver will be deactivated and the switch at the low-side driver will then be closed. This causes the MOSFET or IGBT to remain ON.In summary, IX2A11S1 PMIC gate driver is a particularly suited for high-speed switching applications and driving of high loads. It is capable of driving the gate of the power MOSFET and IGBTs to the appropriate voltage level in order to attain the required switching characteristics. The operation of IX2A11S1 is based on a push-pull concept, wherein the high-side driver is activated in order to switch the power device ON, and the low-side driver is activated to switch the power device OFF.
