Working Principle

The JANTX2N2222AUA is an NPN transistors type which operates with a bipolar junction. This amplification process is based on the movement of electrons and holes through the base region.

When a small current is applied to the base terminal, it causes the base-emitter junction to become forward biased. This allows electrons to flow from the emitter to the base. At the same time, holes are attracted from the base to the emitter. As the base current increases, more electrons and holes are introduced into the base region. The increased electron and hole concentration causes the base-collector junction to become forward biased, which allows current to flow from the collector to the emitter.

The amount of current flowing from the collector to the emitter is greatly amplified by the large transition area of the base region. The greater the base current, the greater the collector-emitter current. This amplification process is known as current gain and is usually expressed in terms of gain bandwidth product.
