Optoisolators are electronic components that convert the electrical signals travelling from one circuit to another into optical signals, allowing them to be completely isolated from each other. The JANTX4N48 is an optocoupler model manufactured by Microsemi, which uses a transistor and photovoltaic output to provide two-way isolation between the input and output circuits.
The JANTX4N48 optoisolator features a monolithic device that operates from 5 to 110 Volts DC input voltage. It is a 4-pin module that consists of an infrared LED emitter, an input LED detector, a top-mounted transistor, and a photovoltaic output. The module is constructed of a dual-in-line package with an integrated infrared LED and a phototransistor in a plastic housing that shields the circuitry from external influences.
