TVS diodes are available as diode array, bidirectional, single, or multiple protective elements.

JANTX1N6106 is a two bidirectional unidirectional surface mount transient voltage suppressor, designed to protect 5V circuit against inductive transients, static electricity, sparks, and lightning. The diode operates over a wide temperature range of -65°C to 150°C. It features low operational and clamping voltage, low leakage current, low temperature coefficient, and low reverse leakage current.

The main application field of JANTX1N6106 is to provide protection against damaging voltage transients. Examples of electrical equipment or automotive applications where JANTX1N6106 can be used include: automotive diagnostic equipment, inductive motor drivers, interface circuits, as well as microprocessors, microcontrollers, and automotive computer networks.

The working principle of JANTX1N6106 is based on the avalanche breakdown mechanism. In normal operation, its junction voltage and current remain low, but when a high voltage surge is applied to the diode, its junction voltage will increase sharply due to the avalanche effect. This causes a large current to flow in the diode, which absorbs the energy of the surge and clamps the voltage across the diode to a safe level.

The JANTX1N6106 diode can operate continuously under the rated voltage or withstand heavy surge voltages without blocking. The device is capable of handling high energy surges of up to 600W. It has a breakdown voltage of 6.3V and a peak pulse power rating of 600W. The diode has a fast response time of less than 10ns, which helps protect the device from damage due to high-voltage transients.
