K2000F1

The K2000F1 is a four terminal, high voltage, fast recovery, alternating current thyristor. It is designed as an integrated package for general purpose applications and is suitable for rectifiers, phase control, speed control and protection applications. The K2000F1 has a maximum reverse voltage capability of 2000V, and a peak off-state voltage of 1280V. In addition, it offers a very fast turn-on and turn-off time and has low forward voltage drop.

Working Principle of K2000F1

The K2000F1 consists of two junction diodes and two P-N junctions connected in parallel, making it a four-layer, four-terminal thyristor device. When the K2000F1 is triggered by an external control signal, it is turned on, passing current and blocking voltages. The P-N junctions are connected in series while the diodes are connected in parallel. The forward voltage between the P-N junctions is much lower than the reverse voltage, while the reverse voltage between the diodes is slightly higher than the forward voltage between the P-N junctions.

As soon as the gate current reaches a certain level, the P-N junctions in the K2000F1 experience a decrease in reverse voltage and the junctions start to pass current. As current passes through the K2000F1, the voltage across the reverse voltage of the P-N junctions increases and the voltage across the diodes increases as well. This increases the forward voltage drop of the K2000F1, resulting in the K2000F1 turning off.

Application Field for K2000F1

The K2000F1 can be used in rectifiers, phase control, speed control, and protection applications. The fast recovery time of the K2000F1 is particularly useful in these applications. The fast recovery time enables the K2000F1 to reduce current distortion, voltage spike and thermal stress, which improves the performance of these applications.

In addition, the K2000F1 can be used in lighting applications. The low forward voltage drop of the K2000F1 enables a higher current density than other thyristors of similar current ratings, making it very suitable for use in high power LED lighting systems.
