Thyristors, also known as silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs), are semiconductor devices which control current flow in an electrical circuit. Thyristors are one of the fundamental building blocks of digital circuits and are used in a wide range of applications from heating and lighting to motor control. DIACs, SIDACs, and K2000GHUs are all types of Thyristors. DIACs, or Diode Alternating Current devices, are used to control the current in a circuit in either direction. They are capable of conducting current in both directions, depending on the direction of the voltage. DIACs typically operate at higher voltages than the more commonly used light-emitting diode (LED) and are generally employed in controlling electrical motors, lighting and other equipment.SIDACs, or Self-ilaterally Commutating Thyristors, are a type of thyristor which switch relatively low instantaneous currents in both directions. They are typically used in AC power switching applications where current has to be switched in both directions. SIDACs also find applications in high-frequency switching and circuit protection.Finally, the K2000GHU (Kilo 2000 Grand Hybrid Unit) is a thyristor capable of controlling current up to 2000 amperes in both directions. It is commonly used in industrial and commercial businesses for motor control, power supply regulation, and consumer electronics. K2000GHUs offer a very high current density, making them an ideal choice for controlling heavier loads.In terms of their working principles, all three types of thyristors operate on the same basic principles. A thyristor is a three-terminal semiconductor device which is triggered by an applied electric current. In a thyristor, two switches are operated in tandem, one to control current flow in one direction and the other to control current flow in the other direction. Once the threshold current is reached, the thyristor will switch states and will remain in that state until the current is removed.
