Working Principle
The KA7912TU is a linear voltage regulator which use an internal voltage reference source to provide a regulated output voltage. Its internal circuitry includes a two-stage design consisting of a series-pass element consisting of an N-Channel MOSFET and an adjustable voltage regulator comprising an error amplifier and an internal reference.
The series-pass element regulates the output voltage according to the following equation:
Vout=Vref+Iload* Radjust
Where Vref is the internal reference voltage, typically 1.25V, and Radjust is the external resistance connected to the ADJ pin, which sets the output voltage according to the equation above.
The error amplifier is used to regulate the output voltage, by comparing the output voltage (measured at the FB pin) with the internal reference voltage, and adjusting the MOSFET\'s gate voltage accordingly.
The output voltage of the KA7912TU can be set to any value within its specified range, by setting the external resistance connected to the ADJ pin accordingly.
