The KA7918TU is a three terminal linear voltage regulator specifically designed for use in personal computers. It is designed to provide precisely regulated voltages of 3.3V and 5V at up to 5A of load current. The KA7918TU is a low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator. It is a true three-terminal device with a +Vin pin for the input voltage, a -Vin pin for the return voltage and a +Vout pin for the regulated output voltage. The on-chip thermal shutdown and current limit protection ensures the device’s output voltage is maintained within safe operating limits, even in the most extreme conditions.
The KA7918TU is designed to deliver up to 5 amperes of output current over a wide input voltage range of 2.5 V to 14 V. It offers improved line and load regulation, good transient response, low temperature coefficient and low dropout voltage. The device is available in plastic packages with the industry standard PDIP-8, SOIC-8, SIP-8 and TO-220AB packages and can be used with a variety of heat sinks. In addition, it is rated for operation up to 125°C junction temperature.
