KS8721BLA4-TR is one of a range of ethernet interface drivers, receivers, transceivers available from KT Microelectronics. This device families are part of the KT Microelectronics range of ethernet physical layer products. The KS8721BLA4-TR from the KMicro family of Ethernet PHYs is designed to provide a high-speed data interface between networks and host devices.
The KS8721BLA4-TR is an integrated physical layer device that supports 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 100BASE-FX technologies, providing a cost-effective, compatible solution for the communication requirements of both consumer and industrial systems. The KS8721BLA4-TR incorporates five different modes which include 10BASE-T ×4, 100BASE-TX ×4 and 100BASE-FX ×4 to support multiple applications.
The KS8721BLA4-TR is a single-chip baseband transceiver/receiver that provides support for both 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX networks. It implements both carrier sense and collision detection techniques, allowing the device to sense presence of a network data stream. The device also supports point-to-point communication though utilization of full-duplex encoding and decoding techniques, allowing data to transmit and receive both independently on the same cable.
The KS8721BLA4-TR offers an integrated power management control system ideal for both stationary and mobile applications. It provides functions such as cable sense, sleep mode and power down that are ideal for reducing overall power consumption when the device is in an idle state. The integrated power management and the patented AHDL logic minimizes the need for external logic devices, helping customers to save power and reduce system costs.
The KS8721BLA4-TR also supports low idle-channel noise, which makes it suitable for noisy environments created from switching and traffic in the Gigabit Ethernet systems. This is ideal for implementations where the transmission poll speed is fast and interference sources can cause data losses. The device also supports full-duplex operation, allowing for simultaneous transmission andreception of data, improving the efficiency of data transfers.
The KS8721BLA4-TR integrates a fast MLT-3 coding and decoding algorithm to help provide accurate transmission and reception of data over extended distances and makes it suitable for high speed systems such as Ethernet systems.
