The L6226QTR is a versatile device specifically designed to drive three-phase brushless DC motors. Its onboard control logic and power stage circuitry serves to implement electronic commutation of the motor. This product embeds in one package a three-phase power stage capable to deliver up to 3 A/channel, a three-phase driver as well as programmable logic for proper commutation control. It is intended for driving brushless DC motors (BLDC) commonly used in industrial applications, automotive, drones and many other applications.

BLDC motors (also known as electronically commutated motors (ECMs) or synchronous DC motors) are becoming increasingly popular in many industrial, commercial and consumer applications. This is due to their higher efficiency, small size and the performance advantages they offer when compared to traditional AC induction and brush-type motors. The L6226QTR provides all the integrated circuitry necessary for driving and controlling the motor, including sensorless control, external current sensing and the required protection features.

The L6226QTR features programmable features that make this device suitable for any application, such as motor speed control, current control, dynamic braking, speed regulation and ramping, low speed detection and many other features. For current regulation, the device can measure the actual motor current to create a smooth startup up of the motor and maintain a constant current during operation. For dynamic braking, the device can be used to regulate the motor speed to decelerate the rotors to increase the dynamic braking performance.
