The L7815ABP Voltage Regulator is a member of the Linear voltage regulator category of Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) products. If the voltage on the output is shorted to ground, the device has current-limiting protection that prevents it from drawing excessive current. In addition, the Over-voltage protection feature prevents the output voltage from rising beyond the absolute maximum rating. The device is protected against reverse-battery conditions and in case of reverse-battery conditions, the current-limiting will be disabled. This feature makes it suitable for automotive applications.
