Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are ideal for use in power supplies and voltage stabilization systems, as well as for signal coupling and filtering applications. The structure of aluminum electrolytic capacitor, such as LGY1J103MELC50, consists of an anode, a cathode foil, and an electrolyte. The anode is made of aluminum foil with a thin surface layer of aluminum oxide, which acts as a dielectric. This is rolled up into a cylindrical shape, typically with long axial leads attached to both ends. The cathode foil is usually made of aluminum, but may also be nickel or stainless steel. The electrolyte is poured into the roll to form a gel-like substance between the anode and cathode foils.The mechanism of operation of the LGY1J103MELC50 aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on the charging and discharging of electrons to and from the plates, separated by a dielectric medium.
