Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are electronic componentssthat store energy in an electrical field. The LLS1E333MELC is anAluminum Electrolytic Capacitor that uses the physical process ofelectrolysis to store electrical energy. Its main application is incircuits where large capacitances are needed and its workingprinciple is based on the principles of electrochemistry.

Every capacitor is formed by two plates of conductingmaterial placed at a distance from each other, separated by aninsulating material called dielectric. The charge that a capacitor canstore is proportional to the product of the surface of the conductingplates and the dielectric constant of the insulation material. Thisdevice is the basic element of electrical circuits and its aplicationabroad.

The LLS1E333MELC is an electrolytic capacitor which differsfrom other capacitors in that the dielectric medium of an electrolyticcapacitor is a formation of a chemically produced films on anodicelectrolyte. Since the dielectric medium in this type of capacitor issuper thin, much more area is available for storage, making this typemore efficient and therefore desirable in applications requiringlarge capacitance.

This electrolytic capacitor consists of two aluminum plates,one negative and one positive, separated by an insulation layer ofamorphous oxide film. The negative plate is the anode and is made ofhigh purity aluminum electrolyte. The aluminum electrolyte for the LLS1E333MELC is a very thin, porous film made up of multiple layers ofamorphous oxides including alumina, boron and hydroxides. Thepositive plate or cathode consists of an electrolytic solution and isconnected to the power supply.

When the LLS1E333MELC is connected to a power supply, a current flowsacross the electrolyte and charges up the capacitor. The currentcharges up the capacitor by forming a buildup of positive ions onthe positive plate and negative ions on the negative plate. Thiscreates an electrostatic field between the two plates that storeselectrical energy.

The stability of the capacitor and the amount of charge it canhold are directly related to its materials and design. The LLSE333MELC is designed to be used at temperatures up to 105°C andunder high voltage conditions such as those found in automotiveand industrial applications. It is also designed with low leakageto reduce losses when the power is not being used.

The main application of the LLS1E333MELC is in circuits thatneed very high capacitances. It is commonly used in DC-DCconverters, battery start circuits, multi-level dc-ac invertors andaudio systems. It is also used in applications such as consumerbased electronics, automotive, lighting devices, communicationdevices and high-tech industrial applications.

The LLS1E333MELC is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor that can beused in applications that require very high capacitance.
