LM25017MRFBEVM is an evaluation module from Texas Instruments and is designed to evaluate and demonstrate the LM25017M synchronous boost converter. The LM25017MRFBEVM is a high-performance energy-efficient switching power supply designed to both step-up (boost) and step-down (buck) a voltage. It uses two distinct operating modes, the synchronous boost mode and the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). The synchronous boost mode allows the LM25017MRFBEVM to achieve up to 95% efficiency across the whole operating range, while the DCM mode enables the other 95% efficiency, whereas during light load operation. Additionally, it provides superior load-transient performance due to its synchronous rectifier driver design.

The LM25017MRFBEVM allows users to quickly evaluate the performance of the LM25017M by providing an adjustable control voltage through its on-board voltage divider. This control voltage may be used to control the voltage output, duty cycle, or switch mode frequency. The on-board divider can be adjusted to provide a high-frequency operating mode of up to 3.1MHz and a low-frequency operating mode of up to 375kHz.

In addition, LM25017MRFBEVM offers protection features such as thermal shutdown, programmable under-voltage lockout and over-current protection. It also integrates supporting circuitry such as power-good and fault comparators to simplify the design process.
