The LM25576MHX is a monolithic DC-DC switching regulator designed to step down voltages of up to 8V in a very efficient manner. The device operates in either PWM or fixed frequency mode depending on the desired application and is capable of delivering up to 2A of output current. The regulator features an integrated high-side NMOS switch and low-side PMOS switches and can be configured using associated external components to provide a variety of different switch-mode topologies.The LM25576MHX is well suited for a variety of applications including point of load supplies and DC-DC conversion in portable and distributed power systems. Its high efficiency, low power losses and integrated heat sink make it an excellent choice for power supply designs.The LM25576MHX operates over an input voltage range of 4.6V to 40V and includes integrated protection features including overvoltage and overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown and undervoltage lockout. It also includes a slew rate pin for adjustable control of the regulator\'s output voltage ramp rate.The LM25576MHX DC-DC switching regulator employs a fixed frequency Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control scheme to provide a constant operating frequency. The output voltage can be adjusted via the internal voltage reference or externally via the external voltage divider. The minimum on-time is adjusted automatically in order to ensure proper start-up and regulation.The LM25576MHX includes a pulse-by-pulse current limit that provides protection against output overloads. It also includes a soft-start feature that prevents high in-rush currents at start-up.The device includes two integrated feedback comparators that provide seamless cycle-by-cycle current limit and thermal shutdown. The LM25576MHX also features a high bandwidth internal compensation network, helping to minimize output voltage ripple.The LM25576MHX is supplied in a low profile 16-lead (3mm x 4mm) Thermally Enhanced TSSOP package, making it ideal for space-constrained applications.The LM25576MHX DC-DC switching regulator is an excellent choice for many power supply designs.
