The LM2574M-ADJ/NOPB is a voltage regulator and a member of the renowned LM2574 Simple Switcher series. It is a step-down switching regulator with an adjustable output voltage and fixed frequency PWM regulation. This unit is designed specifically for low voltage, 1.5V to 38V applications and uses low current, offering up to 500 kHz switching frequency for high power density designs. With 0.2V output voltage accuracy, an external FM synchronizing option, and an easy to use product design, the LM2574M-ADJ/NOPB is an excellent solution for a variety of DC/DC converter designs.

The LM2574M-ADJ/NOPB is a monolithic integrated circuit that includes an adjustable, low-cost and fixed-frequency 2-A, step-down or step-up DC/DC switching regulator. The output voltage can be programmed from 1.5V up to 38V, and the frequency is adjustable up to 500 kHz. Furthermore, this device offers a wide input voltage operating range across a wide operating temperature range, with exceptional supply noise immunity. This integrated circuit also provides low-noise operation with low quiescent supply current, up to 2 A of output current, and ±2% initial accuracy over temperature. Additionally, target output voltages can be set using external resistors.

The LM2574M-ADJ/NOPB offers a wide input voltage range, low dropout voltage at low output currents, and an internal low-power shutdown MOSFET to reduce standby current for lower power consumption. Moreover, this integrated circuit supports power addition of multiple converters, offering unity-gain operation for noise reduction, allowing for continuous, fixed-frequency PWM operation through FM Synchronization. Finally, the LM2574M-ADJ/NOPB includes both short-circuit and open-loop protection, as well as a power-good flag that signals the output voltage status.

The LM2574M-ADJ/NOPB is versatile and relatively simple to use. This DC/DC step-down switching regulator is suitable for a variety of different applications, including telecommunication systems, instrumentation, process control, network infrastructure, data and sensor systems, factory automation, and computing and peripheral applications. Additionally, it is an ideal choice for use in portable as well as industrial power systems. The LM2574M-ADJ/NOPB is available in two package versions: a thermally enhanced oversized 16-pin HTSSOP and a thermally enhanced 14-pin SOIC.

The LM2574M-ADJ/NOPB DC/DC switching regulator operates using an error amplifier and a MOSFET driver stage. The error amplifier senses the output voltage and compares it to the reference voltage. This comparison provides a feedback to the PWM controller, which in turn controls the MOSFET driver stage. The MOSFET then switches the current on and off to the output, thus controlling the output voltage. The operating frequency of this unit is adjustable up to500 kHz. This high switching frequency results in low electromagnetic interference and small, lightweight, cost-effective components.
