The LM2575-3.3BWM-TR is a part of the National Semiconductor Buck Switching Regulators, a type of DC-to-DC switching regulator. LM2575-3.3BWM-TR has a maximum output current of 3A and can switch up to 65V. The device has a wide input voltage range, adjustable output voltage range and a very low quiescent current, which makes it suitable for battery-powered and portable applications. It also features thermal protection and current limiting for improved reliability.

The LM2575-3.3BWM-TR is capable of delivering an output power of up to 10 Watts, allowing it to be used in a wide range of applications from microcontroller systems to large motor controllers. The buck switching regulator employs three main blocks: a power stage, an internal control circuit and the external control circuitry, which takes the input from the control sources and generates adequate pulse-width modulated signal to turn on/off the power stage accordingly. It acts as a voltage-mode control device and maintains an almost constant output voltage in a wide range of output currents and load variations. The output voltage of the LM2575-3.3BWM-TR can be varied using a simple two-pin voltage programming signal (Voltage Programming Pin) which is triggered by user logic signal.

The power stage of the LM2575-3.3BWM-TR consists of an N-Channel MOSFET switch, which is driven by a pulse width modulated signal, generated by the control circuit. In addition, it has a series Schottky barrier diode, an inductor and external capacitors to provide the quasi-resonant hysteresis current switch mode control. This arrangement helps in delivering high efficiency over wide load variation and input voltage range. Also, the N-channel MOSFET helps in reducing the power dissipation thus allowing operation up to 85°C ambient temperature.

The internal control circuit of the LM2575-3.3BWM-TR contains an error amplifier, logic control circuit and current limiting circuitry. The error amplifier provides the reference voltage for the PWM comparator. This voltage is varied by the voltage programming pin. The logic control circuit contains an oscillator and timing circuits, which generate the pulse width modulated signal. The current limit signal is compared with the internal reference voltage to ensure efficient operation over the full load range.

The LM2575-3.3BWM-TR can be used in a variety of applications, such as automotive systems, power supplies, battery-powered devices and portable products.
